Matt Scriven: The Former Pro Boxer Behind the SBG UK and Sweet Boxing Gear Brands
My name is Matt Scriven. I am a former professional boxer from Nottingham.
I am the founder of SBG UK: a brand aimed at pro boxers and ‘Sweet Boxing Gear’: our boxing brand dedicated to providing young children with more suitable boxing equipment.
Over the years I have tried out and came into contact with many many pairs of boxing gloves, having personally fought over 100 fights.
I am also a boxing promoter and over the years I have owned and managed both amateur and professional boxing gyms, coaching many fighters including former ’ champion Andy Bell.
My aim is to bring you the very best boxing gloves I possibly can with feedback from the men & women in the Boxing industry.

‘SBG’ is our adults’ range, designed and developed from my 37 years experience in boxing and from the boxers and coaches currently within the boxing industry.
I could not afford some of the popular brands of gloves whilst I was boxing. I found gloves that I could afford and found there was very little difference in quality and SBGUK bridges that gap.
Many of the gloves at the higher end in price, do not justify the price and fall short in design and quality.
Many of these gloves are made by big-name suppliers and I cannot see how they justify the prices they charge for these average gloves.
SBG will continue to bring out the very best gloves and set the standard for quality and design. My aim is to bring the best gloves to the market at affordable prices for all involved in boxing.
Sweet Boxing Gear
I created Sweet Boxing Gear as a range of boxing gloves and equipment dedicated to the youngsters. Far too often I would see the young boxers in my gym with gloves up to their elbows.
Our gloves are designed to fit the junior boxer’s wrists. Our specially designed curved Focus Pads in this range, are a great fit for both adult and junior coaches.
